2022 Moto Guzzi V85 TT Adventure E5

Moto Guzzi had been working on a new adventure bike for some time now.  Because the costs to bring the Stelvio, the company’s original adventure bike, up to Euro4 standards would be far too excessive, Moto Guzzi opted to simply develop a brand-new bike.

The manufacturer debuted the V85 in 2017 at the EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show.  At the time, the prototype received a lot of attention and was thus put into production.  In fact, Moto Guzzi had previously competed with a similar bike, the V65 Baja, at the Paris-Daker Rally in 1985. The “TT” designation on the new V85 stands for Tutto Terreno, which translates to “all terrain”.

The new engine is an air-cooled 853cc, 90-degree transverse v-twin hooked to a shaft drive puts out an impressive 76 horsepower and will reach the majority of its toque at 5000 rpm.  In addition, Moto Guzzi claims that this new engine is be the first that can “easily” reach 8000 rpm.  A new, semi-dry crankcase has a scavenging oil pump, allowing the engine to keep cool without the necessity of an oil cooler.  The 2022 V85 TT is Euro 5 compliant.

The V85 offers riders five rider modes to choose from:  Street, Rain, Off-Road, Sport and Custom, the latter two recently added to the suite.  Smooth and reliable power is delivered via a ride-by-wire system and the bike also comes with MGCT traction control.  Ohlins shocks are fully adjustable and powerful Brembo brakes add to the safety and versatility of this all-terrain motorcycle; cruise control is offered as a standard feature as well.

The V85 has a monoshock attached to the right side of the swingarm and allow the rider to adjust both the shock preload and hydraulic rebound on the fork and shock.  With 6.7 inches of total wheel travel and 8.2 inches of ground clearance, off-road riders will feel confident taking on several different types of terrain.  The steel tubular frame is also new and lighter, bringing the dry weight of the V85 in at just 507 lbs., but is also stiffer. Add a seat height of 32.7 inches and a 6.1-gallon capacity tank and you’re ready to take to the open road in style, safety (brakes are handled by Brembo both up front and in the rear) and comfort.  A beautiful, full color 4.3-inch TFT dash shows fuel level, speed, revs, gear, temperature and cruise control settings and houses the bike’s MIA multimedia system.  A handy USB plug up front keeps your gadgets connected.

In terms of the styling, the V85 comes in three color schemes:  Nero Etna (black), Giallo Mojave Yellow and Rosso Uluru (red).  Spoked tubeless wheels add another eye-catching feature while shaving off a few pounds of weight.  A full line of parts and accessories is available to enhance the adventure touring experience.
